Mel Duncan, Founding Director of Nonviolent Peaceforce, a trained civilian unarmed peacekeeping force, will also be speaking at 8 p.m. at the College of Complexes, Lincoln Restaurant, 4008 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. Come early for dinner off-the-menu at 6.

At 12:30 p.m., Mel Duncan, Founding Director of Nonviolent Peaceforce, will speak at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, 126 E. Chestnut Street, Chicago, about how and why nonviolent peacekeeping is becoming a viable and recognized means of creating sustainable, permanent peace in violent conflict zones. Mel will share how the positive approach to peace practiced by Nonviolent Peaceforce has worked in Guatemala, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. He will also discuss Nonviolent Peaceforce’s new ventures in The Sudan and South Caucasus (Georgia).
Hosts are Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago Mission Committee and Young Adult Ministry. Co-sponsors: Pax Christi, The Raven Foundation, Chicago Global Donors Network, The JRC Peace Dialogue, Chicago Chapter of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, Christian Peacemaker Teams, Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice, Wellington Avenue United Church of Christ.
