God of Carnage at AstonRep Theatre Company – November 10, 2012

by Yasmina Reza

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play

After a schoolyard altercation between two 11-year-old boys, the parents meet for a civilized discussion of the incident. Societal armor is stripped away and brutish, animalistic madness between the parents erupts. With AstonRep’s recent development of bringing fresh life to acclaimed newer works and giving them an intimate and honest treatment, this dynamic play is an excellent candidate.

God of Carnage was directed by veteran Chicago director Doug Long and features AstonRep ensemble members Amy Kasper, Ray Kasper, and Robert Tobin and Jeff Award-winning actress Kelly Lynn Hogan.

Suzanne Ross led a post-show discussion of this provocative and engaging work of theater. Enjoy her article on the play, “God of Carnage: From the Schoolyard to the Killing Fields”.
